SYARIAH PROBATE / LETTER OF ADMINISTRATION
The authority conferred to the personal representatives of a deceased person is referred to as a Grant of Probate and/or Letters of Administration. Essentially, a Grant of Probate permits an Executor named in the deceased’s will to administer the estate according to the will’s directive.
In the same way, a Grant of Letters of Administration authorises an Administrator to administer the estate pursuant to faraid regulations (where there is no Will).
